Vikings release Williams, Kennedy
Eden Prairie, MN (Sports Network) – The Minnesota Vikings released safety Madieu Williams and defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy on Thursday.
Williams signed a lucrative six-year, $33 million deal in 2008, but never found his footing in Minnesota after suffering a sever neck injury during his first training camp with the team.
He appeared in 14 games in 2010, recording 75 tackles and an interception.
Kennedy spent 2 1/2 years with the Vikings, primarily as a backup and tallied just eight tackles in nine games last season.
The Vikings also released wide receiver Freddy Brown, signed tight end Ed Barham and running back Alexander Robinson.
